Rehab and Recovery with Chondra Pierce is not only a great laugh but also enlightening as she bases her routine on her bouts with depression. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chonda_Pierce . Her book, “Laughing in the Dark” addresses the issues of depression, her dysfunctional childhood and how she now deals with it. What I like best is that – unlike many great comics today – she doesn’t utter the F word in every breath she takes to make a point – thus coining her “The Queen of Clean.” I think everyone can laugh and learn from watching Rehab and Recovery with Chondra Pierce.
This morning at breakfast, I said to my hubby, “Lard Arse the “how long does it take to make a damn piece of toast” wouldn’t it be refreshing if our politicians had that same level of honesty and humility as Chondra Pierce. I gave him the best laugh he’s had in a long time (thus making him forget that I burned the damn toast!) I had watched the evening news the night before and was appalled that President Obama gave no mention of the Captain and Navy Seals bravery – pivotal to the rescue. news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090413/ap_on_re_af/piracy Lard Arse laughed even more – thus giving me time to turn the blower on over the stove, open a window and pop in another piece of toast.
My point being that if President Obama had taken the high ground and shown some humility, he would have said something like this, “I am happy to announce to the American people that the hostage situation has now found resolution. I cannot stand here and take credit for what that brave Captain and Navy Seals accomplished by risking their lives in such a manner. All Americans should give thanks for what they have done.” Had he spoken in that manner (even if he really didn’t mean it), everyone would have perceived him to be humble (he’s not) and would have actually given him credit for the rescue as a large faction of the populus still perceives him as the Second Coming! (O give me a break!)
President Obama should watch Rehab and recovery with Chondra Pierce. He could benefit greatly from her refreshing honesty. It’s so easy to detect the real from the unreal. At one point Chondra Pierce says, ‘depression is just anger turned inwards.’ Remember Michelle Obama’s remark, “This is the first time I’ve ever felt proud to be an American.” Why is that Ms. Obama? Could it be that overwhelming lust for power, i.e. being on the precipice of becoming First Lady? That remark should have made all Americans angry whether they were depressed or not! I’m never depressed but I have to admit, I do get annoyed watching the never ending litany of adulation that finds it’s resting place upon such undeserving shoulders as our present crowd in government. They all need a good mental douche!
Have a great day – get out there and find something to make your heart bounce a little and hold true to all the good things of life in your heart.
