Obama and The Obama Girl duet pretty much capture the extraordinary excitement and through the roof expectations for the new 44th President of the United States – Barack Obama. Massive and exuberant crowds braved below freezing temperature to witness Obama’s inauguration and history in the making as the first black President ever elected to office. Actually, to be accurate, one should say “History was made today when the first 1/2 black, 1/2 white President was ever elected to office.” (unless I’m wrong here and I don’t think I am) Also George and Laura Bush left the White House for the last time – booed at – when they passed by the large viewing screens near the World War 2 Memorial – on their way to the swearing-in ceremony. news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090120/ap_on_go_pr_wh/inauguration_bush;_ylt=A0LEUGy2DXZJNKsAI1nXn414
It has been noted by both parties, the statesman like manner in which President Bush has tried to make President Obama’s transition as seamless as possible. At times, there appeared to be a real affection between them. Only Presidents can know the awesome responsibilities of that office and how quickly the polls can change. But, whether you are a Bush basher or a Obama fan – the fact remains, that George Bush did keep this country safe for 8 long years. So, while Obama & the Obama girl duet does put a smile on the face, credit should also be given another young President that inherited 911 and held this country together from more terrorists attacks than is publicly known. Was he a perfect President? I don’t think so – but certainly not the demon he’s been made out to be either.
So, God Speed President Obama and may you keep all the promises you’ve made to so many that worked so hard to make, not only your dreams come true, but all Americans dreams come true. In the meantime, let’s hold onto the smile and enthusiasm that we have on inauguration day, January 20th. I think Obama & the Obama Girl duet should do the trick.
