The Fuplers struggle with Thalad Drething during a week of healthy eating is such a riot that I’m laughing out loud. FYI, Fuplers pronounced FOO-PLERS. This is the creation of funny man Matt Koval and I’m becoming a huge fan as he is so on the mark about families at dinnertime.
The Fuplers struggle with Thalad Drething reminds me of my years as single mom raising three young boys. My oldest son was six years old and had a slight speech impediment. One evening, as we were eating dinner, he casually said, “Mommy Would you pleath path me the effin butter?” I could hardly believe my ears because that word was never used in our home. I replied to him, “Excuse me – what did you just say ?” Again he repeated, “Mommy would you pleath path me the effin butter?” I answered “Let’s you and I take a little trip to the bathroom and I’ll show you what effin butter really tastes like! I found a small bar of soap and told him to take a little bite out of it and just let it sit in his mouth for a minute or so. After a lot of whining and wanting to spit the soap out – I said “OK, but now do you know what effin butter really tastes like? – So the next you want butter, just say, “Mommy, would you please pass the butter.” OK? He said, “Ok Mommy I underthand. Today, I might add, he no longer has that speech impediment which I attribute to having held that little bar of soap in his mouth for 30 seconds!
