He has begged forgiveness, blubbering that he just “goofed”. He will probably get a pass and be our new Treasury Secretary. Eric Holder, Attorney General designate is tied to several problems, i.e. from ordering the raid on Elian Gonzalez to using backdoor, secretive processes to issue a pardon to a fugitive millionaire whose family was donating millions to President Clinton’s campaign. No doubt he’ll get a pass as well. And last but not least is Tom Dashle, President Obama’s designate for Secretary of Health and Human Services – the latest to embarrass the new President by not informing anyone ( like the President of the United States – whoops!) that he had to pay $140,000 in back taxes (for the period of 2005 – 2007) and interest to cover a luxury car and driver, unreported consulting income and unwarranted charitable deductions – none of which he reported as income. But guess what? He’ll get a pass and be our new Secretary of Health and Human Services. How can we teach our children to obey the laws when government officials (Republican and Democrats alike) break them right and left – and get a pass.
Ok – so let’s all jump in and just beat the hell out of Michael Phelps for being a real jerk and take away all his endorsements and load up on all the possible bad press imaginable but let’s forgive and forget all the old guys in both parties that cheat and steal and get a pass. Man I seriously need a Frappachino at Starbucks… and try to sort out why some are stigmatized and treated like lepers and others go on with their lives like Mother Theresa. So just thinking of asking Michael Phelps where’d you buy that bong puts a smile on my face.
