Nothing is impossible! Dr. Steven Hawkins, the most brilliant mind of this century is proof of this. Dr.Hawkins has Lou Gehrig’s Disease and is almost totally paralyzed. As he cannot speak, he uses a voice synthesizer to communicate. Because he cannot function in the physical world, he isn’t limited by the physical world. Therefore, his energies are inward – thus enabling him to find solutions to very complex problems. He never limits the possibilities.
Among his key scientific discoveries was that black holes – those mysterious entities in our vast universe which are so massive that anything that comes near them is swallowed up forever – including light itself. Thus they cannot be black holes without light. There is light in the black holes.

He describes himself as “lucky” despite his disease. Its slow progression has allowed him time to make influential discoveries and it has not hindered him from having, in his own words, “a very attractive family.” He was born in 1942 and enjoyed all the things other young men of his age did – including having an attractive wife, children, riding horseback, etc. Then at the age of 21 – the symptoms of this disorder caused him to fall down a flight of stairs. The doctors told him he had but 2 – 3 years to live.
I have posted this article because I know so many that are incapacitated in some way – whether it be mentally or physically – yet, Dr. Hawkins is proof that if one has the right attitude, there is nothing that we cannot achieve. That is why “Your attitude is your altitude. How high are you? ” is my favorite motto. So when you feel the world is falling down on your head – just remember that nothing is impossible and the greatest sin is to give up.
