The Seven New Wonders of Nature – a campaign run by a Swiss non-profit organization who expects to rack up 1 billon votes www.new7wonders.com/ – so if you want to be a part of history, cast your vote now. The outcome of the Seven New Wonders of Nature will be determined by international voting and they are projecting one billion….but already they’ve irked the Egyptians by not including the pyramids – the only survivor of the original seven wonders. Well life sucks sometimes – that’s how I felt when I wasn’t voted homecoming queen – just get over it!

Americans, in particular, are super impressed with the “dramatic and larger than life” works of man and nature. That even filters down to the supermarket. I can no longer buy a container of soap that I can pick up without a forklift – no, the big chains want you to buy a 5 gallon jug of soap that will break your back when you wash a load of clothes. Maybe they are partnering with the American Medical Association. hummm

How about the small wonders of nature? www.nps.gov/indu/forteachers/upload/DISC_IN.pdf That’s what interests me most are things like how ants run their colonies, ( in the ant kingdom, the females rule – hummmm), or the beauty of flying flowers called butterflys, or the wonder of a feather. Have you ever given some thought to all the thousands of names man has called God – not to speak of the bloodshed spilled in his name – because well, “That’s what he wants man!” O get real! I personally call him Friend – works just fine for me because that’s what he is to me. One thing for sure  -if I was God, I wouldn’t give a damn what I’m called so long as my kids didn’t go out and find so much pleasure in killing each other, then turn around and say that I wanted them to do it!  No, I think I’d be more like that 20th century philosopher, Rodney King, who said, “Can’t we all just get along?” Apparently not Rodney! The greatest wonder of all is man himself – yet we don’t seem to be overly impressed with the majesty of birth or the inhaling and exhaling of breath. Ask any doctor the how and why and he won’t be able to answer you. I think happiness is God – and while I’m not a religious person – I think the greatest way to live ones life -is doing that which puts a smile on the face. That’s what the 7 New Wonders of Nature  does for me.  “I am a friend of God”  sung by Chris Tomlin pretty much says it all.

Iron rusts from disuse; water loses its purity from stagnation, and in cold weather becomes frozen; even so does inaction sap the vigors of the mind.
