The Texas Supreme Court asked to void the $15.8 Million settlement to the Hughes family who were involved in a deadly accident with a cement truck owned by TXI Transportation – a subsidiary of the Dallas home office, TXI Corporation, which just happens to be the state’s largest producer of cement.www.diggersrealm.com/mt/archives/000942.html TXI Transportation, the cement hauling company feels they were unfairly judged in the Texas Court because the lawyers for the Hughes family brought out the fact that TXI neither trained nor tested the driver but rather took him at his word. In addition, his immigration information was presented to reflect that the truck driver did not have a commercial driver’s license nor was his driving record investigated. The jurors heard 80 references to driver Ricardo Rodriguez’s crossing the border illegally, being deported and holding a falsified Social Security number. Another point the trucking company brought out is that the lawyer for the Hughes family struck down the only Hispanic on the jury because his name was Gonzalez.
The Texas Supreme Court asked to void $15.8 M settlement appears to be the result of Texan ire being inflamed over the fact that illegal aliens are costing that state 4.7 billion dollars in taxes. TXI claims the fact that the driver of the cement truck was an illegal was the only determining factor in this case and therefore influenced the jury to award the Hughes family such a big reward.http://www.eric.ed.gov/ERICWebPortal/custom/portlets/recordDetails/detailmini.jsp?_nfpb=true&_&ERICExtSearch_SearchValue_0=EJ314695&ERICExtSearch_SearchType_0=no&accno=EJ314695 From my perspective, TXI Corporation is as much to blame as the illegal driver. It’s called cause and effect, i.e., “as you sow shall you reap.”
The accident happened when a GMC Yukon sideswiped a fully loaded gravel truck traveling in the opposite direction. The SUV huddled the truck’s side until it emerged, spinning and skidding into the path of a full-size pickup. Facts: 1) None of the Hughes family were wearing seat belts 2) four members of that family were killed 3) only 1-year old Jagr Royse, who was in a child safety seat, survived. Fact: The driver passed drug and alcohol tests after the wreck and was not cited for any traffic violations.
If Americans would stop whining so much and adjust themselves to real change which is perhaps not having two cars but one or maybe even riding the bus, living in smaller homes, making the kids work and go to college. To be blunt, Americans have become so pampered and so spoiled that they don’t want the low paying jobs that illegals will take. There would be no problem if Americans took those low paying jobs instead of applying for welfare and all the other “freebie care” the Obama administration has to offer. Our forefathers worked for 50 cents an hour and, in so doing, supported and educated their families. What is wrong with Americans? Do we think we’re too good to do this type work? Not me kiddo – it would take me ten minutes to get a job because I don’t think I’m too good to do any type work – within the confines of morality. And don’t hold your breath for the Obama crowd to do anything regarding immigration. The reason is V-O-T-E-S! So the Texas Court asked to void $15 M settlement could go either way – but the problem still remains. Here are the culprits: Government and the Employers of illegals. Give those jobs to Americans. If they are hungry enough, they’ll take them. Matter of fact, it might do us a world of good to be so tired from picking tomatoes and lettuce – that there’s little time for X-Boxes, the internet and tweeting – more time for introspection and appreciation. Check out the graphic below – that should put a smile on your face.:D
