The legendary Edith Piaf sings – La Vie En Rose – Video
The legendary Edith Piaf singing- La vie en rose – was one of the most popular songs of it’s time - now has been made into a movie. There isn’t enough space on this page to describe her life – raised in a Normandy brothel run by her grandmother and from the age of 3 – 7, Edith Piaf was blind as the result of keratitis. The prostitutes who had looked after her – pooled their money and sent her on a pilgrimage honoring Sainte Therese de Lisieux which resulted in a miraculous healing.www.little-sparrow.co.uk/
Her life is such a train wreck that it’s hard to imagine how she survived 47 years of hard living and international fame. She had many lovers – including Yves Montand, she used drugs, she sang for the Germans during the occupation – thus creating much controversy as the French condemned her for being a traitor. Yet her friendship with the Germans allowed her to have her picture taken with French prisoners of war to boost their morale and more importantly to cut out their photos and use as forged passports. photos.www.newline.com/properties/vieenrosela.html
But Edith Piaf – like her American counterparts, Billy Holiday and Judy Garland – aren’t remembered for the sadness of their lives but rather the joy they gave to people of many nations. Edith Piaf singing ‘La Vie en Rose’ is simply awesome. This is a trailer from the movie – enjoy and I hope her beautiful voice puts a smile on your face – after all that was her legacy. That is what we remember.
