Chinese tell Olympic champion Joey Cheek to stay out!
The Chinese government has told Olympic champion speed skater Joey Cheek to stay out! They have revoked the visa of this young American athlete – who donated his $40,000 metal winnings from the 2006 Olympics to Darfurian refugees in Chad. The Chinese have close ties with the Sudanese government who could stop the atrocities in Darfur.
But true to form on the eve of the August 8 opening ceremonies, the Chinese Government once again show their backside concerning good public relations by their attempts to censor press coverage concerning Tibet and all groups and individuals (Joey Cheek) who deal with human rights issues. I’m convinced that what the Chinese Government needs is a good national douche!
The irony is that the American media, who arrives in Beijing this week, will take them to the wood shed over Joey Cheek – thus distracting viewers from the beauty of this ancient culture and put a huge spotlight on the one thing this Government fears: humanitarian issues.
Joey Cheek isn’t a rabble rouser but simply a young American taking a stand for his beliefs. No doubt, he would have drawn no attention to these convictions but now the Chinese themselves – in their never ending stupidity where human rights and compassion are concerned – have allowed their narrow minded perspectives and self interest to steal the spotlight.
